Open Positions

Kidaptive is looking for an experienced automation engineer to join our team in Redwood Shores, to help implement testing automation and tools for our flagship big data machine learning product, Adaptive Learning Platform (ALP). To be successful in this position you will need to quickly gain a deep understanding of our platform and customer solutions, as well as be able to synthesize various inputs from stakeholders, and validate and deliver successful end-to-end testing and automation solutions. A successful candidate will use his/her knowledge of testing and testability to promote better software design across our platform: engineering practices, bug-prevention strategies, testability, accessibility, privacy, and other advanced quality concepts.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead/collaborate on improving engineering team’s test coverage, release velocity, and production health
  • Gather insights across various internal and external stakeholders as well as customers to build appropriate product test-case suite
  • Build and maintain automation suite for ALP
  • Automate repeated tasks and build end-to-end test coverage through existing or new infrastructure
  • Write moderately complex code/scripts to test systems, implementing test harnesses and infrastructure as necessary

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience, including development and/or test automation experience
  • Coding experience in Java
  • Extensive knowledge of Unix/Linux environments
  • Deep knowledge of test methodologies, writing test plans, creating test cases, and debugging

The Learning Team’s work draws heavily from research in the fields of psychology, education, statistics, and computer science, but we apply that research to build real-world technologies. A Data Scientist position in our Learning Team requires data analysis, statistical modeling, visualization, collaboration, and communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee multiple technical measurement and research projects related to product development.
  • Perform data cleaning/preparation, management, and statistical analysis of various types of data sets (e.g., gameplay data, online testing, user behaviors in digital environments), including basic and complex statistical design and analysis, recommendations, statistical modeling, and possibly psychometrics
  • Design, develop, document, and deliver technical and operational procedures and modules.
  • Assist with development of technical reports including charts and graphs, to provide summary of findings, interpretation of results, and data-driven recommendations.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. degree (or equivalent experience) in quantitative psychology, statistics, computer science, or related field
  • Advanced training in psychometrics, machine learning, data science, or equivalent
  • Ability to independently clean data, run exploratory analyses, fit models, and communicate findings
  • Personal accountability with a strong work ethic

Bonuses:

  • Experience applying research in real-world situations
  • Expertise with advanced machine-learning techniques (e.g., deep learning and/or Bayesian methods)
  • Curiosity about mechanisms underlying observed behaviors, coupled with creativity in modeling those behaviors

Kidaptive is seeking a Senior Software Engineer  to join our team in Redwood Shores. This role is heavier on the backend emphasis with solid API development and database skills. The engineer will be working on our big data platform, ALP (Adaptive Learning Platform)

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop backend APIs in Java for our flagship product, ALP
  • Design mysql and nosql data schemas, optimize database performance, and manage a live system with thousands of users and millions of events.
  • Work with Amazon Web Services for the deployment, maintenance, and operation of our technical infrastructure
  • Mentor less experienced engineers on the team.
  • Be comfortable in a fast paced startup environment where priorities can change quickly.

Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years working experience as a software engineer
  • Significant experience with Java and API development
  • Basic familiarity with Linux

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with AWS
  • Analytics or other business experience

Senior Software Engineer

Kidaptive is seeking an engineer with big data experience to join our team in Redwood Shores.  In this role, you’ll work on improving and expanding our Adaptive Learning Platform (ALP) , in-house analytics, platform APIs, and more!  Our vision is for ALP to power an ecosystem of connected learning apps, and we’ve got a very exciting year ahead of us.  You’ll be part of a small but elite team dedicated to the success of our platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Write code in Java and Go to improve and expand our Adaptive Learning Platform.
  • Design data stores, both relational and not, and the queries that connect to them.
  • Work with our learning team to help identify interesting insights and trends in the data.
  • Propose new infrastructure, refactorings, and systems setup as needed to enhance ALP capabilities.
  • Improve our company and partner analytics systems.

Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 4+ years working with big data technologies, particularly the Hadoop ecosystem
  • Expert Java skills
  • Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other relational databases.

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with Kafka and Zookeeper
  • Prior experience building or maintaining an externally-facing application platform.
  • AWS experience
  • Go experience
  • Korean language skills.  While this position won’t interact with our Korean office often, it’s still a useful skill to have around Kidaptive.
