Open Positions

The Statistical/Psychometric Analyst works in the area of study concerned with the theory and technique of psychological measurement. The field is concerned with the objective measurement of skills and knowledge, abilities, attitudes, personality traits, and educational achievement. This position provides support in the areas of assessment, measurement, statistical analysis, scoring, reporting, maintenance, and archive/documentation for both internal and external client projects.

This position requires sufficient knowledge in various aspects of data and statistical analysis. They provide data cleaning, data preparation, data analysis and related technical documentation. They work very closely with both internal and external clients to fulfill needs of test design and development. They are expected to provide guidance and direction on projects, initiate conversations related to innovation and flexibility with processes, and work closely other teams to meet the quality and service expected of our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee multiple technical measurements and research projects related to product development.
  • Accountable for basic and complex statistical design and analysis, recommendations, statistical modeling, and psychometrics.
  • Required to apply advanced knowledge of statistical procedures and programming, psychometric methods, and their applications.
  • Design, develop, and document technical and operational procedures and modules.
  • Perform data cleaning/preparation, management, and statistical analysis of various types of data sets (e.g., exam or survey response data)
  • Conduct statistical analysis of item and test data.
  • Assist with development of technical reports including charts and graphs, to provide summary of findings, interpretation of results, and data-driven recommendations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD Degree or a foreign equivalent in Educational Psychology, Social/Industrial Organizational Psychology, Statistics or a closely related field
  • Advanced training in psychometric research and statistics, including item response theory, scaling and equating, and computer programming
  • Strong analytic skills and ability to effectively interpret data
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to independently solve problems
  • Strong communication skills
  • Personal accountability with a strong work ethic

Kidaptive is seeking a Senior Software Engineer  to join our team in Redwood Shores. This role is heavier on the backend emphasis with solid API development and database skills. The engineer will be working on our big data platform, ALP (Adaptive Learning Platform)

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop backend APIs in Java for our flagship product, ALP
  • Design mysql and nosql data schemas, optimize database performance, and manage a live system with thousands of users and millions of events.
  • Work with Amazon Web Services for the deployment, maintenance, and operation of our technical infrastructure
  • Mentor less experienced engineers on the team.
  • Be comfortable in a fast paced startup environment where priorities can change quickly.

Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years working experience as a software engineer
  • Significant experience with Java and API development
  • Basic familiarity with Linux

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with AWS
  • Analytics or other business experience

Senior Software Engineer

Kidaptive is seeking an engineer with big data experience to join our team in Redwood Shores!  In this role, you’ll work on improving and expanding our Adaptive Learning Platform (ALP) , in-house analytics, platform APIs, and more!  Our vision is for ALP to power an ecosystem of connected learning apps, and we’ve got a very exciting year ahead of us.  You’ll be part of a small but elite team dedicated to the success of our platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Write code in Java and Go to improve and expand our Adaptive Learning Platform.
  • Design data stores, both relational and not, and the queries that connect to them.
  • Work with our learning team to help identify interesting insights and trends in the data.
  • Propose new infrastructure, refactorings, and systems setup as needed to enhance ALP capabilities.
  • Improve our company and partner analytics systems.

Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 4+ years working with big data technologies, particularly the Hadoop ecosystem
  • Expert Java skills
  • Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other relational databases.

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with Kafka and Zookeeper
  • Prior experience building or maintaining an externally-facing application platform.
  • AWS experience
  • Go experience
  • Korean language skills.  While this position won’t interact with our Korean office often, it’s still a useful skill to have around Kidaptive.
