As children grow, their environment—people, materials, and activities—has a profound influence on their development. Our Learning Team draws upon years of educational research and teaching practice to create an environment in which your learner can thrive!
An interactive world for kids to explore
Children are born with an intrinsic desire to learn. Like young scientists, they observe, analyze, and hypothesize about the world around them. Leo’s Pad invites kids to explore Leo’s world in a way that maps to how they naturally learn, by playing with new ideas and seeing what happens.
Social learning for long-term success
Research shows that skills like collaboration and reading social cues are essential for early development and later school success. Leo and friends provide clear modeling for these skills, while thoughtfully constructed games offer an opportunity for learners to practice them.
Engaging stories for deeper understanding
Even in infancy, children can understand basic number concepts and distinguish between two spoken languages. In Leo’s Pad, learners must draw upon these developing skills to help propel the stories forward. By presenting more complex math and literacy concepts in a meaningful context, Leo’s Pad increases motivation and knowledge retention, setting kids up for academic achievement later on.
Opportunities to make meaningful connections
Executive function skills allow children to focus on important information and organize it to form ideas. The games in Leo’s Pad incorporate practice with executive functions like attention control and task switching, helping learners manage their thinking and make valuable connections among learning experiences.
